Podcast with Marcus Sheridan – 35 minutes of actionable advice for content marketers

When it comes to content marketing, there are few I respect more than Marcus Sheridan of The Sales Lion. He is the most inspiring person I’ve ever had the pleasure of spending time with, and the level of passion and enthusiasm he puts into everything he does is nothing short of mind-boggling. In this podcast, Marcus shares some of his unique insights into what it really takes to be a truly successful content marketer.

I met Marcus last year at the 2011 MarketingSherpa Optimization Summit in Atlanta. We pretty much clicked instantly and we’ve been friends ever since. He truly is one of the most awesome people I know, and his energy is so contagious that, every time I talk to him, I feel ready to take on the world!

Get Marcus’ insights on:
  • The importance of learning to say “No”
  • How to stay inspired when writing content starts to feel like a chore
  • The power of having “been there and done that”
  • Why free e-books still are a powerful tool for generating business
  • Why “Likes” and “Shares” hold no value in themselves
  • Why it’s the person who can be the kindergarten teacher – not the college professor – that’s going to win the hearts of the audience

  1. Hi,

Came across you podcast on Twitter, and what a cool guy. I feel like I’m gonna take over the World (don’t worry – not gonna happen)

Hi Martin – glad you found it ;-)

Yes, Marcus is really an amazing person, and there’s so much to learn from him!

  2. Hi Michael
Found your interview via our mutual friend Marcus. Just wanted to say hello and that I really enjoyed the interview. Thanks for sharing the conversation.

And I love how you address the challenge of maintaining humility (or perceived humility) and promoting. That’s a big issue for me too because of the region I come from in the US (the Midwest where self-promotion is very much frowned upon).

What I’m learning though is that when we are OVERLY humble, we don’t share our gifts and talents that can help others out. And in that respect, we are being selfish.

Thanks for sharing Michael and very happy to connect.

    • Michael Aagaard says:

Hi Don – Thanks for listening and taking the time to comment!

The subject of humility and promotion is such an interesting one. I really think Marcus had some great points to make here.

The Midwest sounds a little like my home country Denmark ;-)

Have a great weekend and check in again soon.

      - Michael

  3. You bet. And thank you for sharing the interviews.

The Midwest is much like Denmark from what I’m told ;-) I have some good friends in my town who are from Holland/Friesland and they remark about how similar this area is in culture and weather to home.

So glad to connect and looking forward to watching your interview with Marcus after listening to the audio file.

  4. Jeg er helt tosset med Marcus. Video interviewet fra 2011 så jeg i et andet post og det er simpelthen “mind-blowing” – måske det bedste interview jeg har hørt.

Thanks Michael & Thanks Marcus – amazing interviews!

    • Michael Aagaard says:

Hej Christian – 1000 tak for de pæne ord! Ja, jeg er også totalt stor fan af Marcus, han er et af de mest inspirerende mennekser, jeg nogensinde har mødt ;-)
